Qualifications & Position Specific Tasks

The ideal candidate has an understanding of the dynamics of sexual and domestic violence, ability to maintain confidentiality of residents and the location of the shelter, has excellent boundaries and is committed to feminist values and practices. Skills needed for the position include patience, ability to multi-task and work within a shelter setting while performing administrative responsibilities. Word & Excel are required. Knowledge of QuickBooks is helpful. The minimum commitment is one semester. The Interns tasks will include:

  • Organization and filing
  • Business and hotline receptionist duties
  • Prepare bills to be paid
  • Help prepare documents for yearly audit
  • Make copies and send faxes as requested
  • Purchase supplies for shelter if needed
  • Coordinate routine maintenance concerns
